Read the Red Cliffs Conservation Coalition’s Request for Supplemental DEIS to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) here.  On July 21, 2020 the coalition asked BLM to pause the environmental review process for the Northern Corridor Highway and issue a supplemental Draft EIS that studies the impacts of wildfires that burned 14,000 acres (primarily Mojave desert tortoise critical habitat) inside the Red Cliffs NCA. BLM did not choose to issue a supplemental Draft EIS to consider the impacts of the fires in the same area where the proposed Northern Corridor Highway would travel.

The Turkey Farm Road Fire burned 12,000 acres in the Red Cliffs NCA. This fire was started by teenagers shooting fireworks from the Turkey Farm Road.
