Vegetation Restoration – Beaver Dam Wash NCA
January 20, 2024 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm
Vegetation Restoration – More than 60 CSU volunteers and BLM staff planted hundreds of native plants on a Beaver Dam Wash National Conservation Area fire scar in early December. There were nearly 100 Joshua tree seedlings in the mix. Volunteer to map the locations of these JT seedlings with a GPS phone app. This will help us to locate them again if we need to provide supplemental water in the heat of the summer during their first year. We will water these seedlings on January 20 to help them get established. We may also secure some of the protective wire cages with bamboo stakes, if the cages have come loose. We will plan to carpool, but it may require driving your vehicle about 65 miles roundtrip from the St George area; 5 miles will be over a graded dirt road suitable for any vehicle, off of old Highway 91. You must register at https://forms.gle/3fEekCxkuhMDoTVUA to attend this event.
Where to Meet – Project volunteers will meet and leave from the Fire Lake/Ivins Reservoir parking lot closest to Old Hwy 91 or from the dirt lot across from Terrible’s Chevron at I-15 and Sun River Pkwy. Carpooling may reduce your need to drive from either location.
