Conserve Southwest Utah and the Center for Inclusion and Belonging at Utah Tech University present Listen to the Land: Southern Paiute Language, History and Homelands by Karma Grayman. Karma is a Shivwits Band educator and culture keeper who teaches weekly Paiute language classes and has contributed to many Shivwits dialect dictionaries, vocabulary card sets and coloring books for youth. During Native American Heritage Month this November, we invite you to learn about the rich ancestry and traditions of the Shivwits Band and to listen to the language of the land where you live: Southern Paiute Homelands.
This presentation is free and open to the public. No RSVP required. Masks are encouraged to protect the health of elders and the immunocompromised.
Parking permits are not required for events occurring after 5 pm on the Utah Tech Campus. The parking lots nearest the Browning Learning Resource Center are located on 100 South (Lots C, D and E) or on 1000 East (Lots G and H).
